About Partners for Livable Communities Aging in Place Initiative
Partners for Livable Communities (www.livable.com) is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1977, that works to improve the livability
of communities by promoting quality of life, economic development and social equity. Partners is working with the National Association for Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) and AARP, as well as cities and other organizations to gauge and enhance overall preparedness for the increasing numbers of the older adult population. The organization is developing a "Blueprint for Change" that will imagine what an elder-friendly community might be: what it would look like, what services it needs, how older persons can be involved in the planning, what special educational, recreational and cultural opportunities are needed, how cross-generational contacts can be made, and what programs are helping older persons feel safe and secure.
