Foreclosure Training and Scholarships

Today families must be prepared for the responsibilities and burdens of owning a home and since our beginnings in 1978, local NeighborWorks® organizations have provided education and counseling that ensures families will sustain and protect their homeownership assets. In 2004, we turned our expertise to the growing number of borrowers facing foreclosure, and today we are recognized as the leading face-to-face foreclosure intervention counseling program.

The NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling (NCHEC) is the arm of NeighborWorks America which qualifies homeownership professionals through continuing education, certification, tools and resources. NCHEC provides training courses for foreclosure intervention counselors including: lending basics, foreclosure, predatory lending, counseling, forclosure intervention and more. Through NeighborWorks’ leadership, the National Industry Standards for Foreclosure Education and Counseling have been established to provide nationally-accepted criteria for measuring the highest level of quality foreclosure education and counseling. To date NeighborWorks has issued more than 2,900 foreclosure counseling certificates of course completion and anticipates issuing over 4,300 certifications of completion in 2008.
