NeighborWorks, Hope Now Alliance Homeownership Preservation Workshops Reach 15,000 Participants

Large numbers of homeowners show up seeking foreclosure relief.

In partnership with the Hope Now Alliance, NeighborWorks® America has participated in 24 Homeownership Preservation Workshops in 2008 to date. These events are held to bring homeowners facing foreclosure or imminent default together with their servicers and nonprofit housing counselors.

The Homeownership Preservation Workshops have so far served more than 15,000 participants in 26 cities. Each workshop provides opportunities for consumers and families to meet face-to-face with 20 participating servicers, representatives from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and volunteer nonprofit housing counselors.

The Hope Now Alliance and NeighborWorks America remain committed to providing opportunities to families in need of assistance to prevent foreclosure and remain in their homes. The Homeownership Preservation Workshops will continue with three more scheduled events in 2008, and several are being planned for 2009.
