Charles Nallen served on the first board of directors of the Fairmont Community Development Partnership, established in 1991 in Fairmont, W. Va. Since that time, Nallen has become well known and respected in the Fairmont community for his skills in community organizing, public relations, and encouraging residents to participate in FCDP’s programs -- especially the homeowners’ club. On many occasions, Nallen has transported members to club meetings, escorted residents to FCDP’s offices and supported them throughout the application process. Additionally, Nallen has been instrumental in locating absent property owners. He can be relied upon to either know the owner, the owner’s family, or someone who can be contacted on behalf of the owner. With Nallen’s assistance, FCDP is planning an “Elder’s Day” to recognize older community members for their contributions throughout the years. Corporate sponsorship for the event will support the homeowners’ club.
