WASHINGTON, D.C. –Thousands of residents and employees of NeighborWorks America and its member organizations fanned out into their communities around the country to volunteer during the 25th annual NeighborWorks Week, June 7-14. Volunteers from Biloxi, Mississippi to Boise, Idaho; Anchorage, Alaska, to Honolulu, Hawaii, showed their community spirit during the national community building effort.
Of the more than 300 community celebration and education events that took place, 60 events were part of the first-ever NeighborWorks Paints! initiative – a new national effort where NeighborWorks organizations collectively used more than 800 gallons of paint with low volatile organic compounds to beautify and preserve their neighborhoods.
