Special Call for Volunteer Housing Counselors and Housing Experts from NeighborWorks Organizations
to Staff HomeHelpExpress Bus in the Gulf

 

January 20, 2006 — In a partnership with Freddie Mac, NeighborWorks America is HomeHelp Express Busbringing assistance to homeowners in the Gulf by responding to their immediate housing needs. The partnership will provide staffing on two HomeHelp Express buses, which will be equipped with computer labs and workspace to help homeowners in the Gulf Region.

Volunteers from NeighborWorks are being sought to staff the HomeHelp Express buses, working with families to provide information on the many home-related issues they face, including responsible lending, fraud prevention, home repair, rebuild guidelines, working with their mortgage lender and more.

The HomeHelp Express buses will be initially deployed in New Orleans, other southern Louisiana parishes, Baton Rouge, and coastal areas of Mississippi.

We are seeking volunteers from across the NeighborWorks network to assist with this effort. The buses will be in the region for the first six months of 2006. Volunteer assignments on the HomeHelp Express buses are anticipated to be in minimum one week-increments.
