Senator Feingold Recognizes Wisconsin NeighborWorks® Group for Work-Force Housing Efforts

 

May 15 , 2007 – Neighborhood Housing Services of Richland County, Wisconsin, was recently recognized by U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (Wisconsin) for the work it is doing with $156,000 in funds from NeighborWorks America. The recognition event was held in Sextonville at the Airport View subdivision, a neighborhood where the NHS has built and sold 38 new "workforce homes" in the past 12 years. Terry Testolin, executive director for the NHS, presented Senator Russ Feingold with an Affordable Housing Leadership Champion Award.

The NHS uses NeighborWorks America funds for construction loans, lending capital for home improvement loans and loans for newly constructed homes. Other partners include Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development and USDA Rural Development. The NHS employs an aggressive marketing strategy including cable television, billboards and other grassroots outreach in its development of affordable housing.
