Southern New Hampshire University and NeighborWorks® America Announce the NeighborWorks America/School of Community Economic Development’s
Scholars Program

Washington, D.C. – Today, the School of Community Economic Development (SCED) at Southern New Hampshire University and NeighborWorks America announced its NeighborWorks America/School of Community Economic Development’s Scholars Program.

The Scholars Program expands and strengthens a pre-existing agreement between two of the nation’s preeminent community economic development organizations. Originally launched in 2006 as a pilot program, it has supported 11 students and leveraged $75,000 in direct scholarship support toward their graduate studies.

The Scholars Program builds upon previous scholarship opportunities provided by SCED to graduates of the NeighborWorks Training Institute’s Professional Certificate Programs. The Scholars Program provides substantial scholarship monies for NeighborWorks America staff who wish to attend any SCED Masters program.

Scholarship opportunities are also available to employees of NeighborWorks network organizations and NeighborWorks Training Institute faculty interested in a Masters Program offered at SNHU’s School of Community Economic Development representing similar substantial tuition reductions.

For additional information, please contact Anthony Poore, assistant dean, School of Community Economic Development, Southern New Hampshire University, at 603.644.3123 or a.poore@snhu.edu. Information is also available at www.snhu.edu/ced.

About the School of Community Economic Development
Since 1982, SCED has been educating CED practitioners, policy makers and researchers. With over 1,400 graduates from across the United States and abroad it confers masters and doctorate degrees in community economic development. SCED continues to advocate the cultivation of “just economies and sustainable communities” as a method to improve historically marginalized urban and rural communities. Through its students, faculty and staff, SCED developed an effective peer-learning model focused to provide practitioners, policy-makers and researchers the skills to advance their work and build their credentials.
