Two Harvard Graduate Students Selected for Emerging Leaders Fellowship

NeighborWorks America and Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies have selected two graduate students for the ninth year of the Emerging Leaders Fellowship Program.  Each summer, two students with an interest in housing and community develop issues work with NeighborWorks staff and local organizations to research and write about an issue of their choosing, presenting their work to Washington policy analysts and community development practitioners.

This year, Cassi Pittman and Jesse Mintz-Roth have been selected for the fellowship.  Pittman is a doctoral student in a joint program in Sociology and Social Policy and will be working out of the Southern District on the influence of social networks on homebuyers’ choice of mortgage products, with an emphasis on subprime lending and the role of mortgage brokers.  Mintz-Roth, who worked for the Public Advocate for the City of New York, will be working out of the Northeast District on long-term affordability strategies with a focus on programs and policies in New York City.
