Speaker Profile: Ed Mcnamara Ed McNamara headshot

Ed McNamara has over 30 years of experience in construction and in private sector and non-profit real estate development.  In 2002, Ed started his own company - Turtle Island Development, LLC – to focus on affordable and market-rate multifamily development. 

Ed’s experience includes:

  • 12 years in construction as a carpenter, subcontractor, and general contractor,
  • 11 years in community-based development
      • 7 years as Executive Director of REACH Community Development, a nonprofit based in southeast Portland,
      • 4 years as Director of the Neighborhood Partnership Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation,
  • 1 year as a Loeb Fellow at  Harvard University, and
  • 11 years in private sector real estate development
      • 6 years working for a private developer in Portland
      • 5 years running his own company
