If you're in the housing business — whether renting and/or selling housing — it is crucial that you understand the scope of the Fair Housing Law and the consequences of its violation. This session is designed to give the housing provider a comprehensive overview of the Fair Housing Law. In addition to the "do's and don'ts" of the law, you will discover your rights and responsibilities as a housing provider and consumer.

This course will enable participants to identify opportunities to introduce health/energy/water benefits into routine building maintenance and capital improvement processes. Learn to evaluate project specific data to set priorities for energy, water and resident health improvements; use integrated planning tools to prioritize improvements; and implement a green and healthy property management plan that will reduce energy and water use and improve resident health conditions.

All sorts of financial predators are circling our communities offering phony counseling and foreclosure rescue scams, fake "government" loan modifications, baiting and switching desperate homeowners with false promises to save their home. This course will enhance your ability to develop an organized community response against loan rescue scams. Learn to conduct the necessary research to determine the extent to which scams are happening in your community, and to identify the scammers and their targeted victims. Learn how to coordinate strategies within your organization, how to mobilize the community for action, and about the public and private sector partnerships that can help you advance the policy changes necessary to protect our communities.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street program is the most successful model for commercial district revitalization used in hundreds of communities across the country. In this two-day version of the Main Street Basic Training you will learn about the four key components that make up the Main Street Four-Point Approach to revitalizing traditional business districts. Used in all types of communities, Main Street restores the social and economic vitality of our commercial centers. Learn how to apply Organization, Promotion, Design and Economic Restructuring — the necessary elements of all successful commercial district revitalization efforts. If your organization is planning or is in the process of improving a business district you will want to attend this course and learn about it from the experts!

Do you feel confident that your revitalization strategies are working? How do you describe results to your stakeholders? Participants will have hands-on experience in the whole process — from creating measurable objectives, designing a well-balanced evaluation, learning different research methods and performing data analysis and interpretation to putting the results to work in improving your programs and telling your story.

Greening Housing Rehab provides the tools and information that rehab specialists and construction managers require to incorporate Green Building Science into their minor to major rehab work write ups, specs and construction techniques. Additionally, rehab specialists and construction managers will be able to communicate the advantages of going Green to homeowners, homebuyers, staff, contractors and sub-contractors as well as board members and community residents.

This course is designed for professionals in the Homeownership Counseling field who are working at the management level. Through hands-on application participants will learn procedures and methodology that will better equip them to manage the day to day operations of a housing counseling program. This course is aimed at homeownership program managers or executive directors.

This course is designed to show CDC and CDFI CFOs and other financial-minded leaders how the financial and real estate assets they invest in can be priced, structured, allocated and funded to maximize revenue and income for the purposes of building sustainability. This course uses software to set up a financial platform for strategic planning for CDCs and CDFIs. You will walk methodically through the 21 key decisions that can make mission objectives achievable, learn which of the 21 key decisions have the biggest impact on sustainability, and discover the chief indicators and financial ratios that drive all forecasts. At the conclusion of the course, you will be able to run multiple "what-if" scenarios on the structure of the assets and liabilities for your own CDC or CDFI.
