GENERAL PURPOSE: Develop new national account opportunities for NeighborWorks® America and the NeighborWorks® Network by developing funding strategies, identifying and researching prospects, preparing sales materials and presentations and negotiating and closing deals. Directs the work of the partnership development team and collaborates to create a resource development plan, with specific goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensures implementation of a comprehensive national development program for private sector partners of NeighborWorks® America • Supervises, coaches partnership development professionals. • Conceptualize, coordinate and implement funding strategies for national, region and/or local programs. • Develop and implement long- and short-term objectives and strategies for sponsorships and partnerships with corporations and foundations. • Independently manage a portfolio of donors who are generally at the seven-figure level, with corresponding fundraising objectives; responsive for cultivating applicable donors. • Develop sales script for development staff. • Assist in development of making the business case for programmatic activity. • Engage in public speaking events to new and existing partners for relationship building. • Identify, research and prioritize prospective sponsors and partners. • Prepare proposals, grants, presentations and collateral materials. • Ability to initiate cold calls, secure meetings with decision makers. • Conduct sales presentations. • Negotiate and close deals for sponsorships/partnerships. • During cultivation and presentation phase of partnership development serve as primary liaison between sponsor/partner organization and NeighborWorks® America. • Maintain a current and active database of client contacts and prospects. • Serve on interdepartmental resource development strategy team.
SECONDARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop sponsorship packages and pricing. • Stays abreast of current issues, topics, and sources for information. • Participates on staff committees and/or task forces as requested. • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Work closely with NeighborWorks® America programmatic staff, NeighborWorks® America marketing, public relations and media relations, finance and legal staff to create and develop proposals and ensure consistency with NeighborWorks® America mission

Skills Required |

Master’s degree in non-profit management or a relevant discipline from an accredited four year college or university and a minimum of 8 - 10 years of relevant experience involving demonstrated abilities in business and resource development, sales, fundraising or related areas; or any combination of training, education and experience which provides the following knowledge abilities and skills: • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, initiate meaningful contact with key people; build business programs, develop account strategies and negotiate creative win/win solutions. • Expertise selling to large national enterprises (Fortune 500) and a successful track record of getting these organizations to think outside of the norm and take a few well-calculated risks in finding their new niche. Track record for responsibility of national $500MM+ sponsorship deals • 2 – 3 years supervisory experience. • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal and intergroup relationships involving a variety of persons and groups including professional staff of corporations, foundations, nonprofit organizations and others. • Management experience required (3-4 years). • Demonstrated ability to analyze information and make sound judgments, and meet objectives within a time-sensitive framework. • Demonstrated understanding of private sector culture and business practices. • Experience developing funding strategies for national, region and/or local programs. • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite(word, excel, powerpoint, access); experience with DonorPerfect preferred. • Experience in affordable housing, community development or similar fields preferred • Experience working in the nonprofit sector or with nonprofit organizations preferred. • Demonstrated foundation fundraising / grant writing experience preferred.
