The Junior Network Administrator is the primary support contact for network applications and technology tools supported by NeighborWorks® America. The Jr. Network Administrator will be responsible for all aspects of network administration including servers, desktop systems, communications hardware/software and office systems. This position is responsible for tracking and escalating network support requests, and reports to the Network operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Complete Network administration tasks, including user account maintenance, application setup and troubleshooting. • Administer Postini spam filtering service, adding and removing users, reviewing the quarantine, and creating content filters. • Assist in maintenance of LAN and Internet connectivity, including Cisco routers, T1, cable modems, print servers, VPN access, and Remote Desktop. • Maintain security of company data through backups, disaster planning, and malware prevention/detection/removal. • Provide timely and effective Level 2 customer service and support primarily via telephone and e-mail communication for server and network. • Track and escalate network support requests as needed to the appropriate IM staff. Work closely with other IM staff to resolve complicated issues in a timely and effective manner while sharing solutions and assisting other support team members in developing skills through cooperative work relationships. • Provide timely and effective communication to customers regarding problem status and issue resolution. • Develop a working knowledge and implement all IM policies and standard operating procedures of the department and provide input for improving existing department operations. • Accurately log all network contacts using existing ticket tracking software and document all actions taken to provide problem resolution. • Learn and apply knowledge of fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment. • Provide weekly and monthly reports of activities as required. • Maintain timely and regular attendance.
SECONDARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide backup support for off-site backups. • Become familiar with available information resources and track new and emerging technology. • Other duties as assigned by the Network Operations Manager.

Skills Required |

• A bachelor’s degree or completion of a 2-year Associate degree with at least two (2) years of experience with current Microsoft technology and help desk support experience is preferred. • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory and Exchange. • Strong experience in help desk support or customer service activities with demonstrated customer relations skills. • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required. • Exposure to VMware, LAN technologies and MSSQL Server • Experience with server virtualization, especially VMware is desired. • Excellent written, analysis and communications skills.
• Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with NeighborWorks® America staff, customers and external vendors. • Must have the ability to work on multiple projects with multiple deliverables.
